Ombudsperson

Before joining OYCR, Alisa Hartz was a Deputy Legal Affairs Secretary in the Office of Governor Newsom. Her work in the Governor’s Office was focused on supporting the State’s response to COVID-19 and working with the Office of Emergency Services and the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation. Prior to entering state service, she worked for over five years at Public Counsel in Los Angeles where she litigated impact cases on a range of civil rights issues relating to education, homelessness, immigration, and the criminal justice system, among others.

During her tenure with OYCR, Alisa has provided critical legal counsel, advised the Director and Deputy Director, and assisted the Ombudsperson Division team focused on screening, investigating, and resolving complaints.
