Dr. Juan Carlos Argüello comes to OYCR from the Department of State Hospitals (DSH) where he served as the statewide Associate Medical Director. While in DSH, Dr. Argüello assisted in the provision of clinical direction for the five state hospitals and in the formulation of policy for the development and implementation of clinical programs designed to maintain high standards of the current science of mental health treatment. His civil service career began at the Division of Juvenile Justice where he supervised clinical and the administration of all psychiatrists and developed and implemented mental health policies and procedures.
Dr. Argüello received his medical degree from Nova Southeastern University, completed his general psychiatry residency at Naval Medical Center Portsmouth, and his child and adolescent psychiatry fellowship at Harvard Medical School/Children’s Hospital Boston.
